Jalan Raja Uda Afternoon Hawker

Yay... food again. This is also at Raja Uda. Why again at Raja Uda u might ask... reason is its near to the place I stay and we don't really need to go far to get good food in Penang. Everywhere has good food.

Cendol~! This is the main reason I visit this hawker area. See the NATURAL green cendol? U can't find that anywhere in Singapore... at least I haven't find any myself... When I got the chance... I will show u all the artificial green of Cendol in Singapore...

This cendol stall was actually selling in Chai Leng Park last time. Luckily my dad found out that he moved his stall to Raja Uda. I just love the taste of the fresh coconut milk, the aroma of the brown sugar, the softness of the big red beans and of course the cendol with pandan leaf aroma~! The cendol is really excellent~!

My dad and mom shared the Ice Kacang. The ice kacang is nice too, but I still prefer CENDOL.

My dad went to order a bowl of Asam Laksa to share among ourselves. See the chili padi on top,and also the prawn sauce or har gou(虾膏)? Doesn't that makes u drool? lol... After all, Penang is famous for its Asam Laksa. Guess I didn't really taste Penang food if I didn't had any Asam Laksa~!

The Chili Padi really makes the Asam Laksa power leh~!! The sour and hot soup with mashed fish meat(ikan Kembong) ... the thick rice vermicelli(thick bihun)... sliced cucumber, vege, pineapple, lemon grass, onion and chili padi.... this ingredient packed Asam Laksa nearly blew my mind off~!

For detailed directions, kindly click ----->here.

Jalan Raja Uda is one really long street filled with lots of good food day and night. Its one nice place to get food. Not to mention there are different stalls day and night at certain areas~! This hawker area I went I located at the red X that I marked at the map above.

More Penang food on the next post. Stay tuned.

Zeta Gundam Progress

Very long time never touch it already..... Its a public holiday today and so happen that I do not have any plans... so I decided to continue on this Zeta Gundam... There goes my Hari Raya Haji holiday.
You can find my last update here.... lol... this must be the longest ever time needed to finish up a Master Grade Gundam...

Started 2pm.

This is how it looked like b4 I went to China on October

The body was actually completed that time... just left the wings behind the chest.

This is how it looks like at 7pm~!! Yeah... I got the whole body, shield (on the left hand) and the display stand (below the unit) completed FINALLY~!!! YEAH.... but it still doesn't have any weapon...LOL.... Now I need another day to finish the weapon~! haha... There's Beam Rifle, Hyper Mega Launcher, Light Saber.... I think thats all thats left... still not finished
-_________-

Now the Zeta Gundam has wings already~!!! Basically... wat I've done today is the Wings, Tail Stabilizer, Sheild and Display Stand.

Without the weapons... this is the best pose I can come up for my Zeta Gundam...LOL...
Kamehame Haa~!!! hehe... Yau yeng leh~!

My finger got cut when I was fixing the Tail Stabilizer... It was damn hard to push in... and I somehow got cut in the process...
Aiks, finger nails are long... my mom would mumble at me if she see this...

Okay... 1 more last effort needed to finish up my Zeta Gundam~!! Must finish it b4 New Year. My final target date. ~.~

Thats all for now, enjoy the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam clip I uploaded below... One of the coolest Kira Yamato battle from Gundam SEED Destiny... without even using his SEED Awakening Form... POWER~!! Its a different Gundam from mine by the way.

Kampung Benggali Hokkien Mee

Another food post~! This time is a coffee shop selling Hokkien Mee in the morning. After the night I had curry bihun at Jalan Raja Uda, we decided to have Hokkien Mee at Kampung Benggali today. Why is this place called Kampung Benggali? I have no idea... coz I hardly see any Benggali here... Maybe it was used to infest with Benggali ppl?

Aside from that, this coffee shop actually bring back lots of old memories for me. During primary school days, my dad would bring me and my sister to have breakfast here every single day. While we are there, we will always meet my dad's friends, golf friends or the company partners there.

Well, the coffee shop name is called Wah Tong Coffee Shop last time. This time when I was there... I saw the name has changed to Wah Tong Old-Town Kitchen or something... but they still have the same chinese name for the shop.. which is 华东福建面.

烧包, siew bao

1/2 烧包 lol...

The siew bao they make is really nice. The filling is just simple... its like char siew of char siew bao, it has plenty of sesame seed inside which make it has nice aroma for the filling when u are chewing it. The reason I say its simple is because it doesn't have green peas like the normal Seremban Siew Bao found. The taste is quite unique compared with Seremban Siew Bao. If you're not there early, the siew bao would have been sold out by 10am. Thats how good their Siew Bao is. Remember last time my dad used to buy about 20 of them and bring to office for his staff.

Before I go on with the hokkien mee, I would like to explain for those who don't know... Penang Hokkien mee is similar to Prawn Mee in other states. Its different from Fried Hokkien Mee.

Above is the nice old Dry Koey Teow I had almost everyday when I was a small kid... the taste never change~! See how short and fat the tau geh is~! haha... At one point last time... I everyday order dried koey teow... without all the ingredients but the koey teow (or its called koey teow kosong) ... how stupid was I to ignore the fish ball, sliced prawn, taugeh (bean sprout) and Fish Cake~!

Fish ball with the Hokkien Mee Soup

The reason for this fish ball soup is not for the fishball actually. I just wanna drink the soup since I orders dried koey teow without soup. The fishball taste just normal. It looks like those that we can get easily from the wet market.

4004, Jalan Kampung Bengalli, Butterworth Penang 12200 Malaysia

Above is the location of the coffee shop. Its marked in red X. The location marked in blue X is the Butterworth Police station. Its located at the central of Butterworth. Can come from Kulim-Butterworth Highway and its connected to Jalan Jeng Choon Thian in above map. Turn right into Jalan Bagan Luar, go straight and turn into Jalan Kampung Benggali.

Thats all for Penang Hokkien Mee~!

Motorola MOTOKRZR K3m

I've joined my company for a year plus already. The company finally decided to give all engineers a new phone and number to use now. Its a really good news for my colleagues who didn't signed up any phone contract.

Bad news for me is.... I've just renewed my contract last month... D'uh! Canceling it would cost me SGD$250.... Good news for me is that now I can make calls and sms all I want and the company is paying it~! Another plus 1 would be, I have an extra 3G phone now that I can use as a modem to online easily without needing to pull out the USB cable to listen to calls.

MOTOKRZR K3m with touch controls

TaDA! This is the new phone that my company gave me along with the new number. Its actually a free phone if you subscribe a iTwo Plus Plan from Singtel for 24 months. Actual price? I dunno... Its was last week's promotion anyway. Suddenly, I have 2 3G phones =.="

MOTOKRZR K3m flipped open

Brand: Motorola
Model: MOTOKRZR K3m
Size: 104.2mm x 42.3mm x 16.30mm
Weight: 110g (24 grams heavier than W910i)
Internal Screen: 2-inch 260k colour 240 x 320 pixel
External Screen: 1.3-inch 65k colour 120x160 pixel
Memory: MicroSD, phone memory 50MB
Networks: EDGE, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, HSDPA, UMTS 2100
Camera: 2M Pixel

It comes with standard accessories such as stereo earphones, charger, USB data cable, phone cover, 1GB MicroSD card, MicroSD to SD adapter and a software CD.

I started using the phone after about 6 hours of initial charge. I loaded some music and tried out the sound quality of the external speaker. To my surprise, the sound quality of the external speaker actually performs better than my Sony Ericsson W910i. Loudness is more or less the same, but I would say that MOTOKRZR K3m's speaker is better in terms of clarity. OMG... this free phone's external speaker beat my S$398 W910i's speaker~!?!

After using it for 1 whole day... I found out that MOTOKRZR K3m's speaker is the only thing that I admire... The low battery warning sounds off at the end of the day when I only made about 10 calls that lasted not more than 5 minutes... My colleagues all suffered the same problem...

2nd problem I face... is the text messaging interface. It is so different from Nokia and Sony Ericsson... I keep pressing the wrong buttons for space, turn on and turn off capital letter and switching from alphabet to numbers. Actualy this problem is not really the phone's problem. Its more like I am unable to adapt to the different style of this phone...

Next... I have difficulty using the available features in the phone... Its so hard to browse the phone's memory to look for the media or files that I want... I'm not able to browse the phone's memory like windows explorer with this phone... Just weird...

There is a good thing my ex-coursemate Sushi would say to me if he saw this phone.... its YAO YENG~!! Cantonese term for STYLISH~! Coz he likes flip phone a lot. Still remember a funny quote from him... "I bought my Motorola V3 not bcoz of its feature, performance or practical... I bought it bcoz its ~YAO YENG~!" Let me show you how he defines YAO YENG...

Hahaha... basically, by flipping the phone and answering it... is YAO YENG to him...

Sushi and Ah Wei at Oban, Scotland... LOL

Hahaha... the crazy fellow on the left is Sushi and no prize for guessing right on which one is Ah Wei... LOL

W910i

Conclusion... better stick back to my W910i... still prefer this phone's user interface, CK friendly-ness (yesh, the phone is very friendly to me) and the battery life.

As for the MOTOKRZR K3m... I'm using it as a modem now... just to connect to internet with my PC.

Curry Mee at Jalan Raja Uda, Penang

This is the first meal I had in Penang since Chinese New Year~! Woo hoo...
Although this is not my favourite curry mee stall, I still decided to have my dinner here with my mom and dad. This stall only operates at night~! If I remember correctly, they don't open on Mondays... or is it Sunday.... no idea.... forgoten... haha...

Just look at the curry.... The irresistible oily look with bihun, beancurd, taugeh, long beans, hardened pig blood, "sea ham"(dunno wat is the real name). Oh my god.... you can't get this curry me taste anywhere in Singapore~! Not in a million chance... This is heaven~!!

They actually got lots of side dishes for us to choose. They got stingray, Chicken Feet, Beef, Squid, Chicken.... etc available. It would be too much if we order all of them coz we got only 3 person here to finish up the food. My intention was to taste as many kind of food as possible but not over eating.... with some obvious reason.

Curry Stingray~! a bit not dark hor?

Curry Chicken and Chicken Feet... like cannot differentiate hor?? hehe

In the end, we selected Curry Stingray, Curry Chicken & Curry Chicken Feet. Everything was just so delicious. First time I came back this stall for about....2 years if I remembered correctly.

For those who like to try it out, this place is not really hard to find. Its just located at the end of Jalan Raja Uda at the south. The easy landmark would be Billion Supermarket (Is it still called Billion?), Chung Hwa (1st Branch) Primary School, and its near the cross road traffic lights. See the map above? Its located at the X marking. Remember, they only start selling at night. No point going there during the day okay~!

3 bowls of mee with Chicken, Chicken Feet, Ladies Finger & Stingray... u all guess how much lar.... it was just about RM15 leh... I think its still cheap, dun you think so?

Thats all for the first dinner I had in Penang since Chinese New Year.

St. James Power Station

Aiks... I dun have time to blog about my Malaysia trip yet. Still compiling the photos. Nvm, that should be out real soon. At the mean time, let me write this short entry on wat I did yesterday.

Well, its a Saturday... a half working day for me. I laid on my bed like a dead man right after I reached home. It was about 3pm... I stayed in that dead man form for about 2 hours... I felt so.... refreshed~! Ah... afternoon nap never felt this good!

Then I went to met up with Sean and Adam to attend Parani and Anitha's newborn baby's Full Month Celebration.

Colleagues....

Hmm.... do I look like I slim down or wat? I think I slim down already lor... compare with

THIS~!!!

Haha... okay... its still a long way to go b4 I really reach a good Body Mass Index(BMI). My current BMI is 25.95... which is still 0.95 above the BMI of 25 which at the overweight category.

Okay, finish with weight talk for now and continue with wat happened yesterday. Sean actually suggested to go Zouk Out, but I think its a bad idea since none of us were wearing beach wear. D'oh! In the end, we decided to go St. James Power Station at Habour Front (Oh yeah... finally touching something related to the topic) coz Sean's friend Derrick has already reserve a table in one of the club there. Its already almost a year since I last went clubbing in Singapore. Still remember the last time was with the "siao" Convent Gang at MOS, Clarke Quay.

I would like to say I really had fun yesterday there. There are many clubbing outlets available there actually. The ones I went was The Boiler Room, Dragonfly and Powerhouse. Good thing about here is that, you need to only pay 1 time cover charge and you are able to go through all the outlets available there! NICE~!

Adam, Me, Derrick (behind me), Jessica, Jenny, Kat and Sean

Anyways, I was really bored b4 12am.... The place doesn't look and sound happening at all b4 that. Everybody was standing like a stick on the ground... some got their ass glued on the chair... Nothing happened~! Since nothing was really happening, I played five ten with Jenny, Kat and Jessica... Damn I am lame with this game... I drank like 6 glasses of Martell mixed with Coke (I actually lost count how many glasses I drank so I figure 6 would be a good number to put as the number is not too big and not too small) ... So lame... =_=" must train more often liao, losing like this is really embarrassing.

Live band performing at The Boiler Room

But after 12am, the live band really brought the crowd to life~! Thats when the fun started~! Everybody was moving their body to the rhythm, singing along with the band~! Oh man, the place was really alive~! The live band was really great. I never imagine a live band can make the place so happening. Coz last time when I went to RUSH at Eastin Hotel, Damansara the crowd is dead quiet when the band is playing... ppl would really have fun there after the DJ's start playing RnB musics. That's why I felt the live band at The Boiler Room is great~! We hanged out there till about 3am.

Crowd at Dragonfly

After that, we went to Dragonfly. To my surprise, the live band at Dragonfly plays CHINESE SONGS~! TOTALLY AWESOME~! To be honest, it's really rare for a club to play Chinese song. This is the first one I encounter.

Although the place looks smoky like that, its actually a no smoking area inside the club. Coz there is actually a ruling in Singapore banning ppl from smoking in public area... which I really like coz I dun smoke. So there wasn't any random smoker that decide to blow his 2nd hand smoke into the public space.

We partied till about 6am.... crazy huh? Had something to filled up the stomach... then we go home lor... The sun has already rise by the time I reach home.

Conclusion for St James Power Station.... SUPERB~! Sure will go there again~!

Americans are NOT STUPID - with subtitles

Another funny video clip here. Saw this video at Michael's blog. This is really creative, but for entertainment purpose only lar... I bet the author of the video need to interview 100 ppl to get the 5 really stupid ones... or should I say.. they are misinformed.. haha...

I find the most funny quote in this video would be...
"I'm confused between Israeli and Palestinian....... which one is throwing the rocks?"
This dude must have watched a lot of news reports where ppl are throwing rocks in Israel... hahaha....

I bet if I try hard enough, I can find Ah Beng and Ah Lian to get this kind of stupid answers too.. haha...

Have a nice weekend~!!

Holiday in Malaysia: at KL

I've stayed in Malaysia for about 21 years, now I'm back here as a tourist~! My leave started on 30th so I was back in KL to meet up with my dad on the 29th night right after work. Rushed from office to Woodlands, Woodlands to JB and then JB to Larkin. Manage to get a 8.30pm bus.

The moment I got up the bus, I slept all the way to Pudu Raya coz I was so damn tired at that moment... I was suppose to alight at Petronas Station near Bukit Jalil... the moment when I was awake, the bus has passed there already. Missed my dropping point. Had to call up my dad to pick me up from Pudu Raya Station. Reached about 12.30am.... Had a really good sleep on bus just now. Went back to Sg Long and slept till 8am next day and prepare to go back PENANG~! YEAH.

We went to Petaling Street for breakfast as my dad wanted to buy some roasted duck from there. Its been more than a year since I came to Petaling Street.

KL road is jam as always... haha... great to be back in the jam again

My dad brought me to a Dim Sum shop at Petaling Street which he claims to be a very best Dim Sum shop... he say best in everything one lar... and since I am in Singapore for more than a year already, any food in Malaysia would be nice food to me lar... haha.... To be honest, the food was really nice there... its really been a long time since I had food this nice... and not so artificial...

Char Siew~! 叉烧 or Roasted Port... *drool*

Just look at the Char Siew... so solid... it has more meat than fats inside... the material itself is already a bonus, the taste was just so good... It wasn't too dry for a meat with so little fat.. texture was just nice.

Bean Curt with fish meat filling in Sweet Sauce 酿腐竹 + 甜酱

Dim Sum with Pork and Peas filling

Dumpling with thick skin~.~

The Bean Curt with fish meat filling in Sweet Sauce was really nice. The other 2 are just so so... coz reach there nearly 10pm already. Nice ones all finish already. We also ordered Beef Hor Fun... really nice leh... but didn't take any photos of it... haha... The Hor Fun has sliced beef, eggs, ginger slices... wah.. really nice...

After we had our breakfast, we bought 3 ducks from the Sei Ngan Zai Shop 四眼仔. The lady is chopping the ducks non stop... taking so many orders... they only sell the ducks, no eating there one.... we bought 3 whole ducks... waiting her to chop would be a waste of time since we are not eating right away

So many ppl even on a Friday morning...

KL tower.... I still dunno wats going on up there... telekom owns it?

Settle everything liao... we head back to Penang lor~! Happily, I drove as fast as I could with my dad's new car, Toyota Harrier~! It has a 2.4 liter engine which easily overtake any Proton or Perodua on the road... no sweat... However, we met with

YET ANOTHER TRAFFIC JAM~!!!

Damn terrible... the jam started right b4 Rawang all the way till TANJUNG MALIM~!!! Very very jia lat.... the whole hour just manage to move about 30km....

After the jam... I dun care already lar... just go as fast as I could in a safe manner... In the end... we managed to reach Penang at about 4.30pm.... could have reached earlier if not for that traffic jam...

Will continue on holiday in Penang next post... woo hoo~!

Random Sunday Part 2

Before I start an entry on holiday at Penang... I would like to finish up this post first...

After jalan jalan at Food Fest till sien already... we took the MRT and head to Orchard Road... Reason?? Shi May say wanna go camwhore there... lol... okay... I got nothing better to do also... camwhore along lar... lol

We discovered a Do Not Abandon Your Pet campaign going on in front of Takashimaya.... or Ngee Ann City. Many cute dogs there!

One of the few dogs I saw at the "Do Not Abandon Your Pet" campaign.

Still, the main purpose for us to visit Orchard Road was the Christmas Decoration. We were there quite early about 3pm. The lights of decoration are not up yet but the sky was dark... it looked like it was going to rain. Eventually it didn't rain.

Xmas tree in front of Paragon.

Balls on a xmas tree at Wisma Atria

M&Ms house~!

Orchard road at night~!

Red Indians performing

Woohoo~! Nice deco~!

This is Jonathan, Shi May's friend

Xmas deco inside Takashimaya~!

Another M&Ms house with Shi May there....

Dun feel like writing much today....
There is a reason why I choose to go Orchard so early this year for Xmas deco.... the reason is simple.... you can't really do much on Xmas day itself... I was at Orchard to celebrate with Sushi, Mei Yee, Chin Wei and few friends here last year.... it was so so so crowded.... the authorities decided not to close Orchard Road for celebration last year... I was raining slightly last year too...

So conclusion, I am not going Orchard Road for Xmas.... sleep at home better... woo hoo...

P/S: My weight was 76kg on 30th November 2007 for those who wants to know... lol....
I think I already put on some by now... after coming back from Penang.... T.T
